Thomas Moore

Why therapy?

We can all experience the difficulties of a complex emotional landscape at different points in our lives. You might be struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, a loss of direction in life or issues related to your identity. Being the one who cares or looks after the interests of others may have left you emotionally, physically and mentally exhausted and your own needs unmet. I work with you to uncover the patterns of behaviour that drive this experince and to consider what might help to change the pattern allowing you to begin to meet your own needs.

You may have been impacted by racial trauma that has denied you a sense of legitimacy, belonging and safety. I will work with you to connect to the emotions and experiences to help you to process and understand the experience and to move into better relationship with your own truth and self view.

Are you struggling with compulsive and addictive behaviours and seeking a safe space to discuss your experiences? It's important to address the compulsive behaviours that may be affecting you to find support on your journey to recovery from drugs or alcohol. These behaviours often stem from an effort to cope with the effects of trauma. Together, we can explore your experiences, understand the underlying traumas and develop healthier strategies for self-soothing. I will collaborate with you to develop a healthier, more mindful relationship with yourself. Together, we will work on building resilience and the ability to manage challenging emotions within a safe and supportive

As someone with ADHD, autism, or dyslexia, you may have found it challenging to express your true self or have learned to mask your identity to cope. This can lead to feelings of burnout, leaving you exhausted from the effort of conforming to a neurotypical environment.

You might be impacted by unresolved traumas that are causing you persistent emotional, physical and relationship difficulties.

Getting started

I understand that seeking psychotherapy can be a difficult decision, you're not alone. Many people struggle with various challenges in life, and seeking therapy is a courageous and empowering choice. It's okay to feel overwhelmed, and it's OK to ask for help. A soulful approach to psychotherapy acknowledges that our psychic, emotional, and physical struggles are an invitation to look more deeply within ourselves, to develop self-awareness. A better understanding of our experiences can support insight, integration and transformation.

Together we can create a safe and non-judgemental space to explore and to understand your feelings and experiences.

I work with individuals on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of enabling you to enhance your life and to live it more fully.

A soulful approach

A soulful approach to psychotherapy centres on creating a safe and nurturing environment for individuals to delve into their inner selves. This approach aims to support emotional healing, self-discovery, and empowerment. A soulful approach to the therapeutic process, acknowledges the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit, honouring the whole person and their unique journey towards well-being.

How I work

I work collaboratively with you to develop personalized treatment plans that resonate with your experiences and goals. What is Soul in Psychology?

The soul is a complex and multifaceted entity that embodies the essence of a person's individuality. It encompasses emotions, imagination, and our inner lives, possessing unique qualities that connect it to the surrounding world. Therefore, the soul is not merely an internal aspect of an individual; rather, it is intricately woven into the fabric of our environment and society.

The soul reflects both personal experiences and collective consciousness, making it both personal and universal. This perspective is a fundamental element of my approach to psychotherapy, providing a rich and nuanced understanding of the human experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will it take?

The length of therapy really depends on what brings you in. Some people come with a specific issue they'd like to address, which might be resolved in a shorter timeframe—perhaps around 6 to 12 sessions. However, often as conversations unfold, new insights and needs can arise. Together, you and your therapist will explore what feels right and proceed at a pace that suits you.

Psychotherapy is a personal journey—one of self-discovery, healing, and growth. Increasingly, people are recognising the value of having a space to reflect and understand themselves more deeply. For some, this entails continuing therapy for a longer duration—sometimes a year or more—as they navigate life’s challenges and changes.

How much will it cost?

For a 'therapeutic hour' of 50 minutes.

There is a sliding scale for fees: £80 for individuals and £100 - £150 for referrals from organisations.

Some reductions might be possible based on availability, please ask me about this.

How do I start?

To begin with, please feel free to call or email me to arrange our first meeting. This will allow us to discuss your experiences and how psychotherapy might help you.

It will also give you a sense of what it's like to work with me and allow you to ask any questions you may have about psychotherapy and my approach.

Once you’ve decided whether you’d like to continue, we can set up regular session times.

Psychotherapy can be beneficial in a short timeframe, such as 12 weeks, allowing us to focus on specific issues for support or explore potential solutions. However, it can also be long-term and open-ended for a deeper therapeutic engagement.

We can create a schedule that works best for you. For instance, we might start with 12 sessions and then determine whether that has been sufficient or if you would like to explore more complex issues.

How often should I come?

Frequency depends on you and your needs, for example you might need to attend several times per week. However regular once weekly sessions is a minmum requirement to maintain the safety and stability of the therapeutic progress.

When can I come?

Appointments are available in the daytime or evening. Ideally you would stick to the same time and day, every week.
